Biographical SketchJenna M. Smith is a master of science in creativity candidate at the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State College. Currently, Jenna is employed by the Niagara County Community College Foundation working in the field of alumni relations and fundraising. Prior to her current position, she worked as the logistics coordinator for the 2008 Distance Learning and Change Leadership Program for the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State College. She has also held marketing positions at Spirit of Niagara Tours, a group tourism operator. Recently, Jenna launched a creative problem-solving consulting business called Jennaration Creative where she hopes to combine philanthropic values with creativity and innovation concepts for problem-solving purposes. Jenna also focuses much of her work on integrating creative teaching and learning in the higher education setting. Jenna holds a bachelor’s degree in public communication with a minor in creative studies as well as a certification in the FourSight thinking preference assessment tool. In addition, she is the 2010 recipient of the Parnes Noller Scholarship through the International Center for Studies in Creativity. What's my focus?Higher education is this wonderful mix of structured intellectuals and idea people which makes me feel at home. My speciality is in higher education within fundraising, special events and alumni relations fuctions but I have also worked in the marketing and public relations capacity within tourism and non-profit organizations.
My specific curiosity within the field of creativiy focuses on the work of E. Paul Torrance the "father of creativity," creative problem-solving and the integration of creativity and innovation concepts for philanthropic purposes. To sum it up, my passion involves: - The Torrance Incubation Model for Creative Teaching and Learning - The Beyonder Skill Set developed by E. Paul Torrance - The Facilitation of the Creative Problem-Solving Process - Non-profit organizational creativity How I plan to practice my passion?I created the consulting business Jennaration Creativity to spread my creative knowledge while helping those in need. I am a firm believer in giving back to our community whether it through volunteer time, monetary donations or spreading my creative knowledge...I want to help. I hope to use my business to help ignite creativity in non-profit organizations, educational systems around the world and in my hometown of Niagara Falls, New York.
